The cattle herd consists of strictly Black Angus which is used for breeding stock and sale. Black Angus cattle are
medium to large, naturally polled with large muscle content.
Known for their heartiness, the Angus was bred to survive harsh Scottish winters with lots of snow - which is perfect for us here in Minnesota!
The current breeding bull is from the Tour of Duty registered Black Angus stud line.
The cows are all from a closed herd system since 1967 to continue preserving the integrity of the breed. All are vaccinated twice a year to conform
to veterinary guidelines
for the state of Minnesota. The vaccines administered are for liver flukes, red water, pnuemonia, scours, and internal and external parasites.
We are currently on a spring calf breeding cycle. The breeding herd and calves are free ranged on a rotational grazing program.
The cattle is contained by smooth wire electric fencing to minimize any damage or injury to the adults or the calves.
During the winter months, the herd is fed a mixture of local hay and corn.
